It is true that God directs the footsteps of his own. I was led to know
and to meet my Uncle Kayode Akala by God’s divine leading. He was
my dad’s senior brother. I never knew that I had a close relation in the
UK all this while till I met him. When the right time was due, through a
friend of his daughter, I got to know about him.
The day I finally visited him, he welcomed me and made me feel at
home with him. We talked as if we had known each other for a long
time. I visited him when he was poorly. I was overseas for my father´s
burial in January 2022 when one of his daughters called to tell me that
my uncle, who I would have love to spend more time with has passed
unto Glory. He was a pleasant person and I will really miss him.
It was a gift having him with us and I am grateful to God for that
opportunity. Finally, now he is with His maker. Yes, he will greatly
be missed.

My Grandad was loving and happy to see us. He would visit us on
Sundays after his Sunday service at Southwark cathedral and
sometimes we visited him at his home.
He always wanted us to excel in our studies and prayed for God’s
guidance. Grandad always gave gifts of money and prayed for us. He
will be missed so much.

My Grandfather was an amazing man who lived life to the fullest and
was strong. I will always remember him as an active man who despite
his old age continued to live life as excitingly as he could. I will remember
seeing him walk around Greenwich; even when he was getting very
old and we went to visit him, he’ll still be out on his neighbourhood
walks.
I will remember his faith in God and how he was always interested in
Christian theology and history, reading books about the Bible. I will
remember how we went with him to his Church, which was great. I will
also remember his interest in me, my siblings, and cousins. I will
remember how he will give us gifts and will talk to me about my interests
such as playing rugby, my participation in Army Cadets,
my fascination with history and politics.
I remember when he gave me a World War Two, book which I still own.
I will remember how during his darkest days, when he was ill, he tried
to continue be strong but unfortunately, he couldn’t and he is now with
the Lord. I will remember him forever. Rest in peace Grandad.
